Have Music, Will Travel

It’s absolutely surreal.

The whole experience for me is something

I’m still pinching myself about.

- Glenn Williams: Retired Music Teacher in Cuba

It was hot, humid and another non-stop day for Glen Williams shuttling between Cuba’s legendary music schools. But he was having the time of his life when I f caught up with him in Havana showing students how to add some “ratty jazz” to a Horace Silver composition.

This was his latest CAYO music exchange in a foreign country organized by Rena Kraut, one of his former students . These exchanges have been his ticket to the world and a way leveraging his music education background to do good with his free time.

From rooftop concerts in Old Havana to cruising the waterfont in vintage American cars, he shared with me both his excitement and trepidation over finally being free to do whatever he chooses in his new life stage.
